There are some changes happening with Funky Vintage Kitchen. To my followers here on this blog, I am sorry I have been so lazy here. I hope you have clicked on one of the links on my sidebar to find me on my personal blog. You see, I just have too much to do. I blog regularly on my personal blog and am in the process of combining both blogs.
The new and improved blog will be titled 'Funky Vintage Kitchen...a glimpse into the life of April Kennedy and her family' or something like that. OK, so maybe it will be more than a glimpse. I blog about our daily life....well daily. BUT with the change, I will also be blogging about all my creative makings over there too. And giving shop updates....and there will be a link to shop. And specials for my blog followers from time to time. So hurry on over to the almost new and improved site (it is a process happening this month). I promise you won't be disappointed. Become a follower and join the fun. Plus there is a giveaway going on over there right this minute. Go enter. It's a fun little Valentine gift from my heart to yours.
You can go there by clicking here. Or by typing in www.4kennedys.blogspot.com or www.funkyvintagekitchen.com. The last one sounds professional huh!? I am excited about the changes. It will be nice to have one place to blog about everything! See you over there soon. And good luck in the giveaway. It ends Wednesday night.
kisses,
I am completely getting geared up to work on Funky Vintage Kitchen now with the kids back in school. And perfect timing. Today I had two separate sales on Etsy. Just what I needed to get my booty in gear. Thank you! It truly is humbling to me. And exciting at the same time!
Next week I am going to re-organize my space and set a sewing and crafting schedule for my week. One morning will be set aside for thrift store shopping! I can't wait. Another day for posting new items to Etsy, including the picture taking. That seems to be my longest process right now. And I definitely need a little shipping section and I need to replenish my shipping labels. Lyndsay.......any ideas on a new cute design for my shipping labels? It would be fun for them to be FVKish!
I often wonder two things.....did I pick the right name for my business and.....do people get butterflies from the packaging (because I know I do). But I have wondered what the customer thinks when they open the mail and see the wrapped goodies. Well...wonder no longer. One of my customers blogged about her shopping experience with Funky Vintage Kitchen and her delight! Go read here....if interested! And thank you Tee Tee.
Vintage-Inspired picked up my aprons and button rings! The store is absolutely amazing and the store owner, Laura, absolutely adorable. It was quite exciting and a great little boost for my lack of confidence in my peddling skills.
Another children's boutique is very interested in carrying my kid's line of aprons, nursing aprons and onesie and burp cloth line. She will be contacting me to put together an order for 4th quarter...just in time for gift shopping! And another funky store is very interested in carrying all the flower jewelry (rings, earrings and bracelets), but the owner was out of town. The manager oowed and aawed and said I have to call her on Tuesday! It was a fun morning and it was wonderful to get positive feedback from store owners. They were truly excited to see my work!
Now I'm off to Encinitas to scope out stores there. I'll walk in way more confident this time around.
I am peddling my wares! I have a few appointments tomorrow morning in the Orange County area. Wish me luck! It is my first time approaching any stores. I am excited and nervous.
Plus...did you see my FUN SUMMER SPECIAL on Etsy. Go check it out here. Essentially buy one item, get $5 off the second item. Have fun shopping and remember....the teenager girls are going crazy over the earrings and button rings too. Kaia's little group of friends can't keep their hands off of them. An item that is as loved by a 12 year old as well as a 45 year old....now that is something to jump up and down about!
Like my new blog banner? I do. I'm head over heels with it. My Etsy banner was updated too! Thank you blog designer goddess! Lyndsay, is on maternity leave right now, but will have a limited amount of blog banners back up and available in a few months.
I'll be at the Handmade Parade this Saturday, May 23rd from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. If you live in the Sacramento area click on the link above to find out exact location and stop by and say, "hi"!
....for my first craft fair this Thursday night and then my second one on Saturday! Sewing my wares, sewing my tablecloths and attaching price tags to everything. I'll keep you posted!
I can't seem to get ahead and actually get aprons and the like in the shop. I know......no reason to complain. They are selling faster than I can make them and that is very exciting!
I have just purchased some new fabric that I am VERY excited about and have some new styles brewing in my head. I also had some time this week to hit the thrift store and found a whole bunch of bases for my cake plates. The bases are the hardest to find, especially when I am so picky.
I have a bunch of earrings and rings that I need to list too. I got on a kick with cabs and flowers and vintage glass buttons and have been creating some fun rings. Next week. Next week is my goal to load up my store again. Have you noticed it is near empty.
And lastly, my aprons (8 of them) went into a local upscale grocery store on Tuesday and are selling wonderfully. I need to get a few more sewn up today to reload the rack. Here is the picture of the rack (almost finished) that went into the store. It spins!
My aprons are usually a one size fits most....but this last apron was made using a smaller piece of fabric. It was my most popular fabric and it is no longer available. Sad. If you are interested in any of these aprons and would like to purchase one before they hit my Etsy store, please leave me a comment and we can make arrangements. But never fear. I am in sewing mood and have many more to make. Although I usually do keep them limited, only buying enough fabric to make 3 or 4 in the same material.
